The Gemini Project 3 (short: GP3) stands for innovative Dreambox extensions as a plugin on top of a existing image - accessible via the blue button of the remote control.

Welcome to GP3

The Gemini team strikes a new path:

We proudly present our new Gemini Project 3 Plugin and the new GP3 Blue Panel. The functionality of the GP3 as a plugin is almost identical to the old Gemini images. Additional plugins can be installed easily over the Blue Panel.

A big advantage of this approach is: GP3 is no longer fixed in the image, as it was before with Gemini Project 2 and Gemini Project. Now it is a Plugin, which is installed in an image the same way as other plugins. The GP3 Plugin has a completely new icon based desktop user interface (comparable with iPhone/Android) and is opened as usual over the blue button.

The installation is done over the Gemini3 Wizard. This little tool, loads the GP3 Plugin from the Blue Panel Server and installs the plugin. After the installation an automatic reboot of the Dreambox is initiated, and the GP3 Blue Panel can be open over the Vorlage:Blue:blue button.

The GP3 Plugin supports OE 1.6 or OE 2.0 based Images. The Version of the GP3 Plugin differs depending on the image.

  • GP3 for OE 1.6 based Images
  • GP3.2 for OE 2.0 based Images

For OE 1.6 we recommend our iCVS-Image, which has the Gemini3 Wizard already integrated. Or the original from Dream Multimedia. For the time being there is no iCVS image for OE 2.0, so please use the original Image from Dream Multimedia, or an other CVS Image.

The installation of the GP3 Plugin can be found here: GP3 Installation.

Advantages

For the time being, we decided to stop releasing further Gemini images because there are several advantages:

  1. No self maintained update server anymore, which means if for example new drivers are released only the DMM image (or the image of your choice) needs to be updated.
  2. If there will be a new GP3 release there is no need to reflash the Box completely - a simple update is sufficient.
  3. Every user may use the image of his choice.
