The article covers the possibilities which are valid for all Enigma2 Dreamboxes. Additionally the installation in relation with the Gemini Project (GP, GP2 and GP3) are also mentioned.

Here you can find informations about the installation of different types of plugins. This includes Tarballs (.tar.gz and tar.bz2) or packages for Package Management Systems, such as IPKG, OPKG or APT . This can be performed automatically (if the Dreambox has an internet connection) or manually by FTP / Telnet when the addon (package) is downloaded on a computer before.

Enigma2

• Installation of an .ipk file via extension - installation of extensions from the internet (also *.deb packages).
• Installation of ipk files over the software manager - installation of packages from the internet (also *.deb packages).
• Manual installation of an .ipk file via the software manager - manual installation of packages, copied from a computer onto the box (also *.deb packages).
• Manual installation of an *.ipk-File - explains the manual installation of *.ipk packages via telnet or SSH.
• Manual installation of an *.deb-File - explains the manual installation of *.deb packages via telnet or SSH.
• Manual installation of a single (bin) file - install or replace a single bin file, inclusive setting the user rights.
• WebAdmin - simple installation via the Webinterface of the Dreambox.

Gemini Project 4

• Addon-Manager - Installation of packages from the software feed.

Gemini Project 3

• Via GP3 Blue Panel - Installation of packages from the software feed.
• Manual installation with the file browser - easy installation of Addons (*.ipk / *.deb) with the remote control, once the file was copied from a computer on the box.

Gemini Project 2

• Via GP2 Blue Panel - installation of packages from the feed.
• Manual installation with the file browser - simple installationof addons (*.ipk) with the remote control, once the files are copied from the computer on the box.
• Manual installation of drivers - manual installation / update of drivers (DVB modules).

Gemini Project

• Via GP Blue Panel - automatic installation over the BluePanel of Gemini if the box is connected to the internet.
• Manual installation of an addon (tar.gz, tar.bz2, ipk) via FTP - installation of addons (*.ipk) with the remote control, once the files are copied from the computer on the box.
• Manual installation of a single (bin) file - install or replace a single bin file, inclusive setting the user rights.
• Automatic creation of a Gemini Tarball - creating Gemini Tarballs with a Linux computer.
• Install skins manually as tarball - manual installation of skins.
• Download and install skins via the BluePanel - installation via Gemini Server.
